사진 및 이미지 편집 뿐만아니라 아이콘 제작, 사용자 인터페이스(UI) 구성 요소 제작, 기타 2D그래픽 디자인 요소를 제작하는데 사용할수있는 무료 오픈소스 이미지 편집 프로그램이다. 그래픽 디자이너, 사진작가, 일러스트레이터등의 아티스트가 이미지 편집을 수행하는데 필요한 다양한 도구를 제공한다(선택, 브러시, 변형, 필터, 레이어, 마스킹 도구등) 또한 Python, Scheme, Perl 등의 프로그래밍 언어와의 통합을 통해 확장성을 제공하여 수많은 스크립트 및 플러그인을 사용할수있다.
